Today, I'm sharing a quick and easy Patriotic "Red, White & Blue" themed card that I made using Distress Oxide Inks, Simon Hurley create's Stargazer stencil and Ranger Ink's Texture Paste. CELEBRATE! Welcome to a new "Cards by Kendra" blog post! Finally, the school year is winding down, thank goodness! Online teaching is definitely not what I thought it would be. With my limited amount of time due to working so much, I was only able to sign up for 5 swaps this month. I barely got those done, much less try out new card-making techniques and post on my blog weekly like I planned. But I wanted to share with you the cards that I made for this month's card swaps. The first swap was a color theme, yellow and blue.  I decided to try a floating flower frame technique. I stamped and die cut several different size flowers in both colors. I arranged them around a weathered wood patterned paper cut to 3.75" x 5" that was adhered to a white 110 lb. white cardstock base. My plan for these handmade cards to make separate posts and create tutorial videos didn't exactly go the way I wanted it to.  I had two weeks right after the schools closed due to the corona virus pandemic to get really creative, make some handmade cards and enjoy crafting! Today, I'm excited to share this "Meant to Be" handmade card that I created a few weeks ago when schools were first cancelled due to the Corona virus pandemic.  I am a school teacher and we just started distance learning last week.  The two weeks before that, we were on Spring Break and then I had a somewhat easy week preparing to start teaching online.  I enjoyed making so many handmade cards and actually having time to learn some new techniques!  Since the kids officially started back, I've been working 12 hours each day. I've worked more from home as a teacher than I ever did while at school! It's been insane! Today, I'm excited to share these handmade bridge fold cards that I made during my self-isolation at home.  I'm a school teacher and we are out this week and next week (our spring break), so I've had some extra time to work on my papercrafting!  I just loved how the first bridge card turned out, so I just kept making more! To create the bridge card, you'll need a heavyweight cardstock (I used 110# Neenah Solar White) cut to 8" x 4 1/4".  See instructions below: The first card I made was using the Little Ladybug Host Cling Stamp Set and  Matching Die set from Stampin' Up!   The ladybugs, flower and sentiments were all stamped with  Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black   then coated with  clear embossing powder  and heat set.  I colored the stamped images using Copic markers R29, R35, R24, Y21, N0, YG03, YG17, and Y19.  The grass ...

Welcome to a new Cards By Kendra blog post!   Today I wanted to share with you this cute "Welcome Baby" card that I made! If you saw my last blog post, you'll notice I used the same background since I've been experimenting with Distress Oxide inks.  I wanted to try using a different giraffe stamp this time.    This was the first time I've ever used a digital stamp and I am totally thrilled with the results!!  This cute heart spotted giraffe digital stamp is from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps.  I printed it on #80 Neenah Solar White yardstick and colored it using  alcohol markers    The background was made with the  giraffe stencil from Whimsy Stamps . I taped the stencil to the back of a sheet of 4"x6"  photo paper  and applied  Distress Oxide ink in Walnut Stain  using a Picket Fence Life Changing Blender Brush .  I immediately removed the stencil and wiped it with a wet paper towel to remov...

Welcome to a new Cards By Kendra blog post!   I'm excited to share this handmade card that I made for National Sibling Day (coming up in April), which is one of the March 2020 card swap themes for the Facebook Group "Card Swaps for All Seasons".   The main products that I used for this handmade card are from  © Stampin' Up! and Whimsy Stamps®️.   The background was made with the  giraffe stencil from Whimsy Stamps . I taped the stencil to the back of a sheet of 4"x6"  photo paper . I first attempted this background using Distress Oxide ink in Walnut Stain on distress paper (see video below). Once I sprayed it with water, it wasn’t really the look I was going for, so I tried it on photo paper. It went on great but once it started to dry, it had a cloudy film on it.
