Welcome to a new "Cards by Kendra" blog post! Finally, the school year is winding down, thank goodness! Online teaching is definitely not what I thought it would be. With my limited amount of time due to working so much, I was only able to sign up for 5 swaps this month. I barely got those done, much less try out new card-making techniques and post on my blog weekly like I planned. But I wanted to share with you the cards that I made for this month's card swaps. The first swap was a color theme, yellow and blue.  I decided to try a floating flower frame technique. I stamped and die cut several different size flowers in both colors. I arranged them around a weathered wood patterned paper cut to 3.75" x 5" that was adhered to a white 110 lb. white cardstock base. Today, I'm excited to share this "Meant to Be" handmade card that I created a few weeks ago when schools were first cancelled due to the Corona virus pandemic.  I am a school teacher and we just started distance learning last week.  The two weeks before that, we were on Spring Break and then I had a somewhat easy week preparing to start teaching online.  I enjoyed making so many handmade cards and actually having time to learn some new techniques!  Since the kids officially started back, I've been working 12 hours each day. I've worked more from home as a teacher than I ever did while at school! It's been insane! Today, I'm excited to share this "Thinking of You" handmade card that I created during this crazy corona virus social distancing situation we're in.  I created this card for a card swap Facebook Group that I'm in "Card Swaps for All Seasons" and also enter it into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge "Whatever the Weather" .  The theme for the card swap is "Rainy Days".  I've been experimenting with Distress Oxide Inks lately and have been working on my ink blending skills.  I must've practiced blending on over a dozen pieces of cardstock.  At first, I was kind of freaking out because I invested in a ton of different colors and just couldn't get those harsh lines out.  But the more I did it, the better I got.  The background I used for this card was from one of those practices (which I don't have on the video...I'm sorry).  But it was pretty straigh...

I made this quick, fun birthday shaker card for the My Favorite Things Color Challenge #137 I used the green polka dot paper from the Over the Rainbow Paper Pack with a Chocolate cardstock frame on white 110# heavyweight cardstock (cut to A2 size, top fold). The Happy Birthday Circle Die was cut from green cardstock and then I layered it on top of a lighter green cardstock. I had a slightly bigger circle die that I used to cut another frame from the chocolate color cardstock. I used a lemon color cardstock on the backside, which is what shows through the shaker pouch. I filled the shaker pouch with iridescent and gold sequins. Today, I'm excited to share these handmade bridge fold cards that I made during my self-isolation at home.  I'm a school teacher and we are out this week and next week (our spring break), so I've had some extra time to work on my papercrafting!  I just loved how the first bridge card turned out, so I just kept making more! To create the bridge card, you'll need a heavyweight cardstock (I used 110# Neenah Solar White) cut to 8" x 4 1/4".  See instructions below: The first card I made was using the Little Ladybug Host Cling Stamp Set and  Matching Die set from Stampin' Up!   The ladybugs, flower and sentiments were all stamped with  Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black   then coated with  clear embossing powder  and heat set.  I colored the stamped images using Copic markers R29, R35, R24, Y21, N0, YG03, YG17, and Y19.  The grass ...

Today, I'm excited to share this handmade shaker card I recently created for the March 2020 card swap in the Facebook group "Card Swaps for All Seasons".  The theme was "Husband Appreciation".  I had a hard time with this theme at first. I didn't really know where to start.  I ordered some new products from My Favorite Things, including the Message in a Bottle die set, and I just couldn't wait to use it! So rather than going with a masculine theme, I decided to go with a beach theme so I could use my new die set.  I think this card would work for either gender (what do you think?).  For the background, I used Stampin' Write markers on an acrylic block to create a watercolor wash look in beach colors. Welcome to a new Cards By Kendra blog post!   Today I wanted to share this simple and easy to make Easter card I made for a card swap for the Facebook Group "Card Swaps for All Seasons".  This was my first handmade card using Distress Inks and a stencil.  I think it turned out pretty good considering this was my first one. I used the Picket Fence  Life Changing Blender Brush  Set and Flower Stencil (the stencil is only available for purchase in this set).  I started with a piece of  110# Neenah Solar White cardstock base  that I cut to 6"x6" to match the size of the stencil.  I used Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink for the flowers and Pine Needles Distress Oxide ink for the leaves.  I started with the  Wilted Violet  on the center of the flowers using one of the smaller blending brushes.  I added the Peacock Feathers  to the outer petals and blended them (it totally changed the color...
