Welcome to a new "Cards by Kendra" blog post!
Today, I'm excited to share these handmade bridge fold cards that I made during my self-isolation at home. I'm a school teacher and we are out this week and next week (our spring break), so I've had some extra time to work on my papercrafting! I just loved how the first bridge card turned out, so I just kept making more! Keep reading for instructions!
To create the bridge card, you'll need a heavyweight cardstock (I used 110# Neenah Solar White) cut to 8" x 4 1/4". See instructions below:
The first card I made was using the Little Ladybug Host Cling Stamp Set and Matching Die set from Stampin' Up!
The ladybugs, flower and sentiments were all stamped with Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black then coated with clear embossing powder and heat set. I colored the stamped images using Copic markers R29, R35, R24, Y21, N0, YG03, YG17, and Y19. The grass portion on the bridge layer was made using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink blended on Neenah solar white 80# cardstock and then cut out using the grass die cut from Stampin Up's Special Day dies . I used the Petal Passion DSP (retired) for the black and white vines. I've had these cute little ladybug embellishments for a while now. I think I ordered them from Wish.com. I thought they were perfect for both this card and the sunflower card.
For this Sunflower card, I used Pink and Main's Sunflower Stamp and Die set. The bear, flowers and sentiments were all stamped with Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black then coated with clear embossing powder and heat set.I colored the stamped images with the following Copic marker colors: E57, R24, RV23, YR21, Y19, Y15, YR15, YG17 and YG25. I used Stampin' Up's In Color DSP in Pineapple Punch for the panels and Pineapple Punch cardstock for the frame of the center piece. The "Congratulations" Honey Cuts die set from Honey Bee Stamps was used for the banner. I cut the word in Pineapple Punch cardstock, the shadow from basic black cardstock and the stitched layer was cut from the same DSP as the back panel piece. It's difficult to see all of the detail in this in the picture. I really wish you could see it in person! The photo doesn't do it any justice!
The third card was made using the Picnic Pals stamp set by My Favorite Things and Picnic Pals die set (which is currently on sale right now at Mftstamps.com). I used Stampin' Up's In Color DSP in Call Me Clover for the panels and Call Me Clover cardstock for the frame of the center piece and the bridge piece. The stamped pieces were colored with Stampin' Blends (I didn't keep track of the colors). I colored these with my Stampin' blends before my Copic markers came in. I am in LOVE with the Copic markers!! I used 3D foam squares for attaching the raccoon and sentiment. I added a glitter cloud sticker that I bought from Hobby Lobby because I thought the back piece needed a little something more. I have lots of other stamp and die sets that I want to use to make more bridge cards, so please check my blog again or subscribe to my email newsletter to get monthly card inspiration
I hope you like my bridge cards! Which one is your favorite? Please leave a comment and let me know what you think! I'd love to read your comments!
