I wanted to share these lip balm gift tags that I made a few weeks ago using products from
My Favorite Things. I thought these gift tags would make the perfect inexpensive gift to give to my students on their birthdays. I also made some to give to the young women at my church on Valentine's Day. I found several lip balm packs on eBay in candy flavors, so I thought they would love them in these cute little gift tags!! Keep reading for instructions on how to make your own DIY lip balm pouch gift tags!

Valentine's Day Lip Balm Pouches |
I started out making these lip balm gift tag pouches with 110# heavy-weight white card stock, placing the Sweet Treat tag next to another 3" wide tag that I had in my stash. I knew I'd be making multiples of these cute little gifts so I was trying to save time. I placed the lip balm window die 3/4" away from the edge of the Sweet Treat Die while also placing the rip strip in the center of the other stitched tag die to cut at the same time. I alternated the lip window die with the rip strip the next time so I'd have a front and back for each type of tag that I cut out. I had to put the rip strip on the opposite side 1 inch away from the edge so that it would line up with the pouch. For most of the tags, I used the heavy-weight cardstock. I tried using colored 80# paper (shown in picture below but I ended up only making a few because the gift tags weren't sturdy enough to hold the lip balm). Here's a picture of the back of the stitched tag with the centered lip balm pouch.

The back of the Gift Tag |
To assemble, I used Scor-Tape (double-sided adhesive) since it is strong. For my first attempt, I used adhesive runner tape but it wasn't strong enough. I basically covered the entire back of the front of the tag except for the lip balm window with the Scor-Tape. I also placed a strip along the outer edge of the front of the lip balm pouch. I inserted the lip balm pouch with the lip balm in place from the back side. I also placed the tape on the entire back tag leaving about a 1/4" on each side of the rip strip adhesive free so it wouldn't show through the pouch. I carefully lined up the edges of the tags and put them together. Next, I cut out the window frames and Sweet Treat Tag toppers out of different colored card stock paper and paper from the Over the Rainbow paper pad (for the any occasion tags pictured below). For the Valentine tags, I used some heart paper I had on hand. I tried to match the colors used with the lip balm container colors. For some lip balm tubes, I wrapped them with matching paper.
I used Mono liquid glue to add the frame around the pouches and the tag toppers. I used smaller tag dies to cut out the tags attached to the lip balm tags that were stamped with sentiments "You're the Balm" or "Read My Lips: You're the Best" from the Sending Smooches stamp set. I added a variety of embellishments, ribbon and twine to finish them off.
I'd love to know what you think about my inexpensive little gift tags! Please comment on my post and share your opinion with me! If you make these yourself, share your pictures with me! I'd really like to see them!
