Hello! I wanted to share with you my first ever attempt at using embossing markers!
A few months ago, I signed up for a card swap in a Facebook group called "Card Swaps for All Seasons". For the month of February 2020, I signed up for 8 different cards. This post highlights the first card I made.
The theme for this card was Art Impressions "Girlfriends". We could use anything as long as we used any of the Girlfriends stamps by Art Impressions. I chose the Picture Perfect stamp set. I just love the stamp of the group of women taking a selfie. I can totally relate to this stamp...and the sentiment! This reminds me of my friends!
I knew I wanted to color this card with my alcohol markers but I wanted to try something different and make the outfits stand out a bit. I didn't have very many embossing powder colors so I thought I'd try out these embossing markers in primary colors by Marvy (unfortunately, they are discontinued now but I was able to find them on eBay).
My first step was to cut my Neenah solar white cardstock to 3.5" x 3.5". I then swiped it with my anti-static pouch and inked up my stamp with the Versamark ink pad. I heat embossed the stamped image with Ranger black embossing powder. I then colored all of the clothing pieces and accessories with the embossing markers. I added clear embossing powder and then heat embossed the outfits. I tried not to heat the original black embossed outline too much. I just loved watching the outfits come to life!
I finished coloring the faces and hair with alcohol markers. I placed my stamped image square on a black frame (3.75"x 3.75") and found a piece of red scrap paper (cut to 4"x 5.25") that matched the red embossing marker pretty good to use on my card base (110# Neenah Solar White Cardstock) cut to A2 size (4.25"x5.5"). Since the scrap paper had white stitching on it, I decided to use the stitched banner die for my sentiment "We're still hot, only now it comes in flashes!" that I also heat embossed with black powder.
I was pretty happy with the way this turned out! I hope you like it too! Please comment and let me know what you think! I'd also love to see what you've made with this stamp set or even the embossing markers!
